An energetic day starts with a nutritious breakfast. Healthy choice of breakfast does not only provide sufficient nutrients and energy for our daily needs, but also enable us to concentrate and think quickly, improving our learning and work efficiency.
HSPH researchers found that men who regularly skipped breakfast had a 27% higher risk of heart attack or death from coronary heart disease than those who did eat a morning meal.
Skipping breakfast hurts, but it hurts more to eat a wrong one. “Wrong” breakfast choices generally have three highs and one low: high fat, high sodium, high sugar and low fibre. It is actually easier than we think to eat a “right” breakfast. The below table illustrates the common problematic breakfast choices and the corresponding healthy shifts.
